Hellz Yeahz

I have been working on this new street magazine called " Hell Yeah ". From creator Tash:

Hell Yeah! is a new, free, quarterly Aussie mag for anyone out there who's into art, music, rabble rousing, fashion and everything in between. Unlike other free glossies currently in rotation throughout Australia, Hell Yeah! is uniquely focused towards street culture, an area that’s often talked about but widely uncatered for. Our magazine will feature un-PC, no-holds-barred, raw social commentary; 100% stilleto and anorexic model free; interviews with cats from all over the world and what's goin' on in the art, music and design scenes that’s got people in the know talking, thrown in with a good measure of humour, sarcasm and shit-stirring. Basically we're goin' to let you in on all the dope shit that's going on here, there and everywhere. And to enlighten y'all in-between issues, we'll also be blogging regularly from www.hellyeahmag.com!

I have designed the whole mag, it's been a fun few weeks.

Hell Yeah Magazine will be out in December with a massive launch party on the 13th. I will keep you posted.

BARI

Sorry for the lack of posts lately I have been busy with work and other projects including this:
The BARI Festival is an initiative founded by the crew at Jugglers Art Space in 2008, aimed at celebrating and acknowledging the creative and cultural contribution that is often harboured by ARIs within a city. Brisbane is now home to several well established Artist Run Initiatives each working within their own unique artistic frameworks and services for artists and members of the public.
This year BARI will be host to a variety of events between the 1st and 10th of October staged at several Artist Run Initiatives throughout Brisbane, each providing workshops, forums, open studios, live entertainment and art exhibitions showcasing Brisbane emerging artists.

BARI
I m showing at Jugglers (Fortitude Valley) - October 1 - 10.
These are the paintings I submitted I m happy with the direction my work is going.

The next few weeks are going to be busy again with the painting of new pieces for the 2 High festival in November. I will keep you all posted.

Back on

I m in this show tomorrow night at the Fort here in Brisbane.

FROM THE STREET TO THE GALLERY

Fortwenty Gallery presents The Tresspass Exhibition featuring the latest works of reknowned street artists Sofles, Saikoe, Linz, Ken Oath (750 Rebels), Malice, Mechs, Yuin Huz (Coalition Crew), Vinson, Yanoe, Erus, Dkues, Damien Matter and Budgie Smuggler. The Tresspass Exhibition opens at Fortwenty Gallery @ The Fort Arts Hub, 57 Brunswick Street Fortitude Valley, Saturday 18 July at 7pm, until 30 July.

This raw, collaborative group exhibition forgos the canvas entirely, instead presenting striking new works on old and recycled street and railway construction signs. These familiar symbols of caution and hazard are the ideal medium for these cutting edge aerosol, brushwork and paint pen masterpieces which incorporate the old signs into creative new concepts of design prowess.

The Tresspass Exhibition features an all-star line up of many of Australia's most talented, versatile and dedicated aerosol artists exhibiting their latest works to the public within the confines of the gallery walls, while still keeping with the true nature of the street art genre.

The Trespass Exhibition takes you through the hole in the fence to the wrong side of the tracks, giving you a rare and up close glimpse at the world’s most adventurous, extreme & controversial artistic movement!

Things to spend your money on.

This is the first of a few posts. The following drawings and paintings where created for my solo show "Collections Collected" which happened on the 12Th of June. They are all drawn on vintage paper the paper was sourced from books which date before the 1960's. The medium I used to draw each piece varies but I predominately used pen, ink, gouache, water colour, pencil & acrylic. All up I had around 80 pages.
They are up for sale, each piece is $35 including p/h ( within Australia ).In the coming days I will post the larger pieces they too will be for sale.

Email contact me at damienmatter@damienmatter.com

What better way to spend some loose change and support a starving artist.

Thank you

Damien
